Clear Light of Day by Anita Desai

It started a bit slowly for me but after starting the second chapter I was fully engrossed and sat for long stretches to enjoy this beautiful piece of literature. I loved the apt description of flora and fauna of India, loved the way author weaves the tale of a broken family kept upright with pretences and how she rightly sums up that our childhood experiences make us who we are and we never ever forget some of the things, however small incident it may be for others. Not to mention, loved to know that there was an India where people were more accepting of each others’ faith and belief even in adverse times – that it was not easy to brainwash
