It is almost impossible to live in Bangalore and not notice the abundance of trees, even though there is a sharp decline in tree cover all across the city. I have inherited love for trees (or love for Nature really) from my mother, so when I asked her what it was that she liked about Bangalore the most, her answer was prompt, “The tree cover is The trees that really catch the attention of people, or I hope they do, are mostly flowering trees. Whichever season it is, you will find at least one tree in sight ablaze in blooms. It could be Gulmohar, Jacaranda, Silk Cotton Tree, Rain Tree, African Tulip, Peltophorum, Bottlebrush, Plumeria, Flame of the Forest, even the Neem tree with it small blooms that give faint sweet whiff, the smell of arrival of summer in India. or any of the many flowering trees planted across the city. Sometimes, even shrubs do not lack behind, painting the view with their colourful flowers, such as Oleander, Bouganvillea (so many shades of Bouganvillea too!), Ixora and many other shrubs that I see every day but I do not know the name of, just yet.
