I wish I'd been there…

When my dad reached home at night on 2nd November, he saw a bird inside our apartment flying furiously all around. According to him, as all the windows and doors were closed it probably got inside from a small cavity in the corner of a window because it was a little bird. It was difficult to catch it and make it fly away because of its size, so he opened all the doors and windows so that it’d could fly away by itself. Hours passed and the bird was still there flying around the house and by that time it got quite tired and scared searching its way out. Seeing that dad decided to make some effort to help it find its way. He chased the little bird with a towel (Of course, not to scare it or harm it) so that it’d fly in the direction my dad wanted it to. After some time, it finally escaped from the main entrance, into the darkness. The irony is that my dad thought to catch it and keep it in captivity for a while so that he’d show it to me later on but then he thought of what he’d feed it, because it’d long bill, which means that it was a bird of nectar, so grains, rice or anything like that holds little importance for such kind of birds. And, even after thinking so much about it and chasing it for so long he actually forgot to take a snapshot of it! Hah! Oh well… the good part is that dad remembered all of its specifications because he noticed it quite closely flying around the apartment while the bird was trying to escape:

  1. 1) It had red back.
  2. 2) Grey wings/body.
  3. 3) Long, needle-like bill.
  4. 4) Upper part of the head was blue.

I opened this list and as I knew which species I’d to check (long, sharp, needle-like bill), I went through each article one by one and finally found the one I was looking for. And, the bird was…

I’m beyond ecstasy! I wish I’d been there to enjoy the moment with that sweet bird. Although, I’m more happy for the fact that it flew away. Even though she escaped at night I’m positive that it reached her destination safely after the long, tiring day because dad couldn’t find it outside the next morning 🙂
